UNIFIED COMMAND IN BROADVIEW ALERT FOR UPCOMING RALLY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 16, 2026

January 16, 2026
BROADVIEW – In order to protect the safety of Broadview residents and businesses, protestors, officers, and motorists, the temporary Unified Command is providing notice of a planned rally on Saturday, January 17, 2026, near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in the Village of Broadview. The Unified Command has been coordinating directly with rally organizers in anticipation of a potentially large group of peaceful protesters.
The Village of Broadview will temporarily close a section of Beach Street and Lexington Street to vehicle traffic for the rally. People attending should plan time to park and walk to the rally as there will be street closures in the area, including the 25th Avenue exit ramp from I-290. Limited parking is available in the immediate area and attendees should consider options such as carpooling. Please be respectful of parking in surrounding neighborhoods and private property.
The protest area during the rally encompasses a large portion of Beach Street south of Lexington Street down to local business access ways. The protest area has a designated media area.
The temporary Unified Command remains committed to supporting peaceful protest and ensuring the safety and rights of all involved. We implore those attending to express their First Amendment rights peacefully and to remain in the designated protest area. Individuals who incite violence, escalate unsafe behavior, obstruct vehicular traffic by standing in roadways in non-protest areas, or refuse to obey police commands may be arrested.
The temporary Unified Command designated a community liaison, Jason Hernandez at Jason.hernandez@ccsheriff.org, who people can contact with questions or concerns about the protests. Media inquiries should continue to be directed to press liaisons for the Unified Command.
