SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Police (ISP) announces the arrest of 50-year-old Michael A. Egan of Springfield, Illinois, for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony).

On August 16, 2019, Governor JB Pritzker reestablished DCI to incorporate the functions of criminal investigation, intelligence support, air operations, and special operations.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Police (ISP) has earned Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Law Enforcement Accreditation for the 11th time.

SPRINGFIELD – To help ensure those who are prohibited by law from having a firearm, and who pose a threat, do not have guns in their possession, the Illinois State Police (ISP) conducted numerous firearm enforcement details in counties across the state from June 24 through July 19, 2024. The enforcement details focused on individuals who have become the subject of a Firearms Restraining Order or Clear and Present Danger, or received a criminal conviction, among other reasons.

SPRINGFIELD – On behalf of Sangamon County State’s Attorney John C. Milhiser, the Illinois State Police announces that the release of the body worn camera (BWC) video from the officer involved shooting of Ms. Sonya Massey will be released on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The release is being pushed back at the request of the family of Sonya Massey and their legal representative.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Police (ISP) continues to target vehicle theft, hijacking, and related violent crimes using grant funding from the Illinois Secretary of State Illinois Vehicle Hijacking and Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention and Insurance Verification Council. ISP was awarded a $10 million grant for the first fiscal year, and another $677,000 grant announced in June 2024.
