POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO MAN FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER WITHIN 12 HOURS OF EXPRESSWAY

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 33-year-old Freddie Jones from Chicago, IL, for two counts of Attempted Murder (Class X Felony) and two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) stemming from an expressway shooting.
On April 27, 2025, ISP responded to the Chicago Police Department for the report of an expressway shooting that occurred on Interstate 94 northbound near 71st Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s vehicle was shot during the incident. The driver and passenger of the victim vehicle reported no injuries.
After a swift and thorough investigation, ISP agents quickly identified Jones as the suspect and took him into custody within 12 hours of being notified of the expressway shooting.
On April 28, 2025, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Jones with the abovementioned charges. Jones remains in custody. No further information is available.
The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
