Illinois State Police Task Force Seizes Drugs and Firearm Following Narcotics Investigation

MATTOON – The Illinois State Police (ISP) East Central Illinois Task Force (ECITF) arrested 44-year-old Marcus M. Jackson of Mattoon, IL for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Class X Felony), Armed Violence (Class X Felony), and Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony) after an extensive firearms investigation in the Mattoon area.
On August 7, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m. officers from ECITF and the Coles County Crisis Response Team (CRT) conducted an operation which resulted in the recovery of a firearm related to Jackson. Jackson was arrested and transported to the Mattoon Police Department (MPD). Following the arrest, ECITF officers obtained search warrants from the Coles County States Attorney’s Office. ECITF officers, CRT, and MPD, executed a search warrant at Jackson’s residence in the 900 block of S. 17th Street. Officers recovered approximately 7 grams of cocaine. Jackson is currently being held at the Coles County Jail. No further information is available.
The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
