ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TASK FORCE SEIZES DRUGS AND FIREARM FOLLOWING NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

AURORA – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Kendall County Police Assistance Team (KCPAT) arrested 28-year-old Leonel Valtierrez of Aurora, IL for multiple felony offenses following an extensive narcotics investigation.
KCPAT, in conjunction with the Aurora Police Department, identified Valtierrez as a suspect in their investigation. On April 13, 2026, KCPAT Officers executed a search warrant at Valtierrez’s residence in the 900 block of Rural Street in Aurora. Officers recovered a firearm, seized over 120 grams of cocaine, over 2,000 grams of illegal cannabis and cannabis products, and suspected MDMA pills. Officers took Valtierrez into custody on scene.
KCPAT presented the case to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Valtierrez was charged with Armed Violence (Class X Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent (Class X Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Cannabis with Intent (Class 1 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Firearm with No FOID (Class 3 Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 1 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 2 Felony), Possession of MDMA with Intent (Class 2 Felony), Possession of MDMA (Class 1 Felony), and Possession of Psilocybin (Class 4 Felony). He is being held at the Kane County Jail. There is no additional information at this time.
The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
