ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TASK FORCE ARRESTS AURORA MAN AFTER EXTENSIVE NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

AURORA – The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Kendall County Police Assistance Team (KCPAT) arrested 23-year-old David Leal Jr. of Aurora, IL for multiple felonies after an extensive narcotics investigation in Kane County.

In January 2026, KCPAT Officers, in conjunction with the Aurora Police Department (APD), initiated an investigation into illegal narcotic sales in Aurora. KCPAT Officers identified Leal as a suspect. On February 12, 2026, KCPAT, executed a search warrant at Leal’s residence in the 1600 block of W. Galena Blvd. and recovered cocaine, THC wax and cartridges, cannabis flower, and various packaging materials. Leal was taken into custody without incident.

KCPAT Officers presented the evidence to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and charges were filed for Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine 100-400g (Class X Felony), Possession of Cocaine 100-400 grams (Class 1 Felony), Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis 2000-5000 grams (Class 1 Felony), and Possession of Cannabis 2000-5000 grams (Class 2 Felony). Leal is being held at the Kane County Jail pending his first court appearance. There is no additional information at this time.

The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
