Illinois State Police Takes Juvenile Into Custody as Part of Homicide Investigation

EAST ST. LOUIS – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Public Safety Enforcement Group (PSEG) Special Agents have taken a 15-year-old into custody as a result of a homicide investigation.
On August 3, 2026, at approximately 10:02 p.m., East St. Louis Police Department (ESLPD) responded to the area of 76th Street and State Street for the report of a body in the roadway. ISP PSEG Special Agents arrived on scene and a juvenile suspect was quickly identified. Special Agents later located the juvenile at a residence and took him into custody. There is no threat to the public.
Video footage of the suspect dressed in a clown costume has been circulating and ISP is currently working to collect all relevant video. The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
