ILLINOIS STATE POLICE SEEKS PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE WITH FATAL CRASH ON INTERSTATE 94

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 is requesting the public’s assistance with a fatal crash investigation. ​ ​ ​ 

On October 6, 2025, at approximately 5:10 a.m., ISP responded to I-94 southbound at 29th Street in the express lanes for a reported crash. Upon arrival, Troopers located a gray GMC Yukon crashed into the concrete wall. The driver was fatally injured after being struck by a large piece of metal that came through the windshield prior to the crash. The metal is believed to have come off a semi-trailer with an intermodal container.

Anyone driving in the area at the time of the crash, anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone who may have dash camera footage of the incident or footage from location near the time of the crash, are asked to please contact ISP Special Agents at 847-608-3200.
