ILLINOIS STATE POLICE SECURE SAME DAY CHARGES AND ARREST CHICAGO MAN IN EXPRESSWAY SHOOTING

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 29-year-old Reginald McGee from Chicago, IL for one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony) related to an expressway shooting on Interstate 290.

On July 18, 2025, at approximately 7:55 a.m., ISP officers responded to a reported expressway shooting on Interstate 290 westbound near Golf Road. The victim’s vehicle was shot at by the driver of another vehicle. No injuries were reported from this incident. After an exhaustive investigation, agents identified a suspect vehicle and suspect.

On July 18, 2025, ISP agents McGee into custody. Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charges were filed against McGee. McGee is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.

The charges are not evidence against the defendants, and the defendants is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
