ILLINOIS STATE POLICE RESPONDS TO BARRICADED SUBJECT IN MCDONOUGH COUNTY

MACOMB – ​ At the request of the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to an armed subject barricaded alone in a residence. The subject was subsequently found deceased inside the home.

On May 8, 2026, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department received a call for a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Monmouth Street in Good Hope, IL. Upon arrival, officers located a woman with severe injuries who had exited from the residence. ​ A man barricaded himself inside the home and set it on fire. ​ The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from ISP Troop 4, Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4, SWAT, and Crisis Negotiation Team. ​ SWAT entered the home and found a man who was deceased. ​ This is an active and ongoing investigation. ​ No further information is available at this time.
