ILLINOIS STATE POLICE RESPONDS TO BARRICADED SUBJECT IN MCDONOUGH COUNTY

MACOMB – At the request of the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to an armed subject barricaded alone in a residence. The subject was subsequently found deceased inside the home.
On May 8, 2026, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department received a call for a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Monmouth Street in Good Hope, IL. Upon arrival, officers located a woman with severe injuries who had exited from the residence. A man barricaded himself inside the home and set it on fire. The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from ISP Troop 4, Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4, SWAT, and Crisis Negotiation Team. SWAT entered the home and found a man who was deceased. This is an active and ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time.
