ILLINOIS STATE POLICE RESPOND TO BARRICADED SUBJECT IN JACKSONVILLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

APRIL 24, 2026

JACKSONVILLE – ​ At the request of the Jacksonville Police Department (JPD), the Illinois State Police (ISP) responded to an armed subject barricaded alone in a residence. ​ The subject has safely exited the residence.

On April 24, 2026, JPD officers responded around 1 a.m. to a home in the 700 block of Park Street in Jacksonville for a domestic disturbance in which shots were reportedly fired. ​ JPD officers communicated with the subject, but he was initially uncooperative ​ JPD requested ISP to respond with crisis negotiators and SWAT officers. ​ At approximately 11:30 a.m., the subject exited the residence and has been taken into custody for medical evaluation. ​ There were no injuries to officers or the subject.
