ILLINOIS STATE POLICE MAKES ARREST FOR THREATENING A PUBLIC OFFICIAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CRETE – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 West Violent Crimes Unit arrested 49-year-old Michael Dascenzo of Crete, IL, for threatening a public official. ​ The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Dascenzo with one count of Threat to a Public Official (Class 3 Felony) and one count of Harassment by Electronic Communications (Class 4 Felony).

 

On January 9, 2025, a message of a threatening nature was sent to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Office of Constituent Affairs from an email associated with Dascenzo. ​ ISP agents conducted a thorough investigation, and on February 25, 2025, ISP agents obtained an arrest warrant and took Dascenzo into custody without incident.

 

Dascenzo is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Center awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing. ​ No further information is available.

The charges are not evidence against the defendant. ​ The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
