EAST ST. LOUIS – An Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Public Safety Enforcement Group investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Celvin Rogers of East St. Louis, IL for First Degree Murder (Class M Felony), Armed Robbery / Discharge of a Firearm (Class X Felony), and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon – No FOID/ FCCA (Class 4 Felony).
On February 8, 2025, ISP agents were requested by the East St. Louis Police Department to assist with a homicide investigation that occurred on 59th Street south of State Street in East St. Louis. The victim, 17-year-old, Parker Bujnak of Belleville, IL had been shot while standing outside of a vehicle. Bujnak was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
After a thorough investigation, with assistance from the East St. Louis Police Department, the case was presented to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric, and the above-mentioned charges were filed against Rogers on February 19, 2025.
Rogers was taken into custody in Missouri by the United States Marshals Service and is being held pending extradition to Illinois. No further information is available.
