ILLINOIS STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN PEORIA

PEORIA – The Peoria Police Department requested the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4 to investigate an officer involved shooting.
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Peoria Police Department (PPD) officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute near the intersection of Hamilton and Madison streets in Peoria, IL. A woman involved in the domestic was found shot. A PPD officer encountered the suspect and shots were fired. The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured.
This is an active investigation and no additional information is available at this time. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Peoria County State’s Attorney for review.
