ILLINOIS STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN PALOS HILLS

PALOS HILLS – The Palos Hills Police Department requested the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 to investigate an officer involved shooting.

On February 15, 2026, at approximately 4:18 a.m., Palos Hills Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. Officers made contact with the suspect outside the residence and officers fired shots, striking the suspect. ​ Emergency Medical Services transported the suspect to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. ​ A firearm was recovered at the scene. ​ No officers were injured.

After a thorough investigation, ISP will turn the case over to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The investigation is active and ongoing and no additional information is available at this time. ​
