ILLINOIS STATE POLICE INVESTIGATES OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SAINT CHARLES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 1, 2024

SAINT CHARLES - On December 1, 2024, around 8:46 a.m., the St. Charles Police Department asked ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 West to investigate an officer involved death that occurred at River Glen of St. Charles Assisted Living Community in Saint Charles, Kane County.

 

Preliminary investigative findings indicate St. Charles Police officers were responding to a call of a male suspect wielding a weapon. Upon arrival, officers immediately encountered the male suspect. Faced with a threat, one officer fired their weapon, striking the male suspect. The male suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

 

ISP will conduct a thorough investigation into the use of force portion of this incident. After its completion, ISP will turn all reports over to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office for an independent review of the facts. No additional information will be released at this time.
