ILLINOIS STATE POLICE GUN AND DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN 25 FELONY CHARGES FOR BLOOMINGTON MAN

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5 Task Force 6 (TF6) Officers arrested 45-year-old Sherez A. Boykins of Bloomington, IL for 25 felonies after an extensive drug and gun trafficking investigation in McLean County.
ISP, with assistance from the Bloomington Police Department Street Crimes Unit, initiated an investigation into the suspected trafficking of narcotics and firearms in the Bloomington and Decatur areas. During the investigation, Boykins was identified as a suspect and search warrants were obtained. On February 6, 2026, TF6 Officers executed a search warrant at Boykins’ residence on Fuller Court in Bloomington and recovered six loaded firearms, ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamine, and miscellaneous narcotic pills.
As a result of the evidence recovered, the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges for two counts of Manufacture and Delivery of Cocaine, Manufacturer and Delivery of a Schedule III Narcotic, two counts of Possession of Cocaine, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, 14 counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Number, and Unlawful Use of Weapons. Boykins is held at the McLean County Jail pending his first court appearance. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation. There is no further information.

The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
