ILLINOIS STATE POLICE FIRST ANNUAL MEMORIAL PARK CEREMONY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 6, 2026

SPRINGFIELD – In honor and remembrance of all the Illinois State Police (ISP) officers who died in the line of duty, the Illinois State Police (ISP) and the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation (ISPHF) held the1st Annual Memorial Park Ceremony today. The ISP Memorial Park, completed in 2018, was built to honor the lives and memories of the fallen heroes of ISP. Inscribed on the wall are the names of every ISP officer who gave their life in service.

“By the grace of God we are not adding the names of any ISP officers to the Memorial Wall this year, allowing us to reflect and honor the legacy of previous officers who died in the line of duty,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. “Here today, and each year to come, we stand before this Wall and we renew our solemn promise to honor their sacrifice. Each one answered the call to serve with courage, integrity, and a profound sense of responsibility. Their service reminds us of the true meaning of commitment in law enforcement and the extraordinary individuals who embody that commitment.”

“The Memorial Park Ceremony is dedicated to preserving the legacy of fallen officers who gave their lives in the line of duty,” said Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation Executive Director Jarod Ingebrigtsen. “Each name remembered represents a story of service, bravery, and commitment to protecting others. We want to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten and that their impact continues to be felt across the communities they served. This ceremony is more than an event – it is a commitment to never forget and to carry forward the values for which these heroes stood.”
