ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS WAUKEGAN MAN FOR 2022 EXPRESSWAY SHOOTING

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 47-year-old Miguel Gonzalez from Waukegan, IL for one count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony) and four counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) related to an expressway shooting on the Kennedy Expressway in 2022.
On October 22, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., ISP officers responded to a reported expressway shooting on Interstate 90 northbound near Fullerton in Chicago. The victim’s vehicle was shot at by an occupant of another vehicle. The victim was struck by gunfire and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After an exhaustive investigation, agents identified a suspect vehicle and suspect.
On February 12, 2025, ISP agents, with the assistance of the FBI Fugitive Task Force, took Gonzalez into custody. Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charge was filed against Gonzalez. Gonzalez is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.

The charge(s) is/are not evidence against the defendant(s), and the defendant(s) is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
