ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS TWO MEN FOR BURGLARY TO PRAIRIE VIEW REST AREA

MONEE – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 41-year-old Flavio Retana from Burbank, IL and 34-year-old Bernardo Hernandez-Molina from Melrose Park, IL for Burglary (Class 2 Felony), Theft Greater Than $500 (Class 3 Felony), and Criminal Trespass to State Supported Land (Class A Misdemeanor).
On August 18, 2025, ISP responded to a report of a burglary that occurred at the I-57 northbound Prairie View Rest Area in Monee, which is currently closed due to construction. The theft occurred during the evening of Sunday, August 17, 2025, and maintenance equipment was reportedly taken.
After a thorough investigation, ISP Special Agents identified the vehicle used during the burglary. On August 22, 2025, the vehicle was located, Retana and Hernandez-Molina were taken into custody. Both are currently detained at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
The charges are not evidence against the defendants, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
