ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS TWO AFTER WEAPON RECOVERED IN CARBONDALE

CARBONDALE – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 Special Agents arrested 19-year-old Shariah Davis of Carbondale, IL and a 15-year-old male after executing search warrants served in Jackson County.

On February 18, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation, ISP Special Agents executed two search warrants in Carbondale, one in the 700 block of West College Street and the other in the 800 block of East College Street. During the searches, Officers recovered a firearm. Davis and the male juvenile were taken into custody on scene.

ISP Special Agents presented the case to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office who approved one count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony) for Davis, and one count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun (Class X Felony) for the juvenile. Both Davis and the juvenile were detained pending their first court appearance.

ISP was assisted by the Carbondale Police Department, ILEAS SWAT, and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office. There is no further information.

The charges are not evidence against the defendants, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
