ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS ROAD RAGE EXPRESSWAY SHOOTING SUSPECT IN LESS THAN 24-HOURS

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 64-year-old Ronald A. Willis of Chicago, IL for one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) related to a road rage expressway shooting on I-94.

On September 29, 2025, at approximately 5:15 a.m., ISP troopers responded to an expressway shooting on I-94 southbound near 57th Street. A road rage incident occurred, and the suspect fired a weapon at the victim’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. In less than 24 hours from the time of the shooting, ISP Special Agents identified Willis as the suspect, located him, and took him into custody.

On September 30, 2025, ISP Special Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charges were filed. Willis is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
