ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS LANSING MAN FOR ROAD RAGE SHOOTING

OAK PARK – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 30-year-old Derrick R. Prude III of Lansing, IL for one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) related to a road rage expressway shooting.

On August 2, 2025, ISP troopers responded to an expressway shooting that occurred on I-290 at Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park. A road rage incident occurred, and the driver from a Ford reportedly fired a weapon at a GMC. ​ Several bullet defects were located on the GMC, but no injuries were reported. ​

After an extensive investigation, ISP Special Agents identified Prude as a suspect from the Ford. On October 23, 2025, Special Agents located Prude and took him into custody without incident.

On October 24, 2025, ISP Special Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charge was filed. Prude was held pending his first court hearing. There is no further information available at this time.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
