ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS GURNEE WOMAN AFTER FATAL CRASH ON I-94

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 29-year-old Priscilla M. Martinez of Gurnee, IL for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Involving Death (Class 2 Felony) following a deadly crash on I-94.


On May 23, 2026, at approximately 4:55 a.m., ISP Troopers responded to crash on I-94 westbound at milepost 11.75, near Belvidere Road. Martinez was traveling in the right lane when the front of her vehicle struck the rear end of a truck-tractor semi-trailer. Martinez and a passenger, identified as 35-year-old Maria Perez, were transported to an area hospital where Perez died from her injuries. ISP Special Agents arrested Martinez after she was released from the hospital.


On May 24, 2026, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the above-mentioned charge. Martinez remains in custody at the Lake County Jail pending her first court appearance.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
