ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS EAST ST. LOUIS MAN AFTER HOMICIDE INVESTGATION IN BROOKLYN

BROOKLYN – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Major Crimes Unit Special Agents arrested 46-year-old Demario A. Ursery of East St. Louis, IL for First Degree Murder (Class M Felony).

On May 12, 2026, the Brooklyn Police Department and St. Clair County Housing Authority Police requested ISP’s assistance with a homicide investigation at an apartment in the 600 block of South 6th Street. Officers conducting a welfare check located a deceased female, 37-year-old Dolnesha Jones.

After a swift and thorough investigation, ISP Special Agents identified Ursery as the suspect. On May 14, 2026, ISP Special Agents presented the case to St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric, and the above-mentioned charge was filed. Ursery is being held at the St. Clair County Jail pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
