ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO WOMAN AFTER PASSENGER DIES IN DUI CRASH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 27-year-old Daja S. Williams of Chicago, IL after a serious crash in Chicago left one passenger deceased and another injured.

On August 16, 2025, ISP troopers responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on the I-94 northbound exit to 130th Street in Chicago. The driver, Williams, was injured as a result. Her two passengers were also injured, one of them critically. The critically injured 26-year-old male passenger later died from his injuries.

On August 18, 2025, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing– Death (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony) against Williams. Williams is being held pending her first court appearance.

The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
