ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO WOMAN AFTER DISCHARGING FIREARM INSIDE VEHCILE WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 33-year-Brittany Stevenson of Chicago, IL after an argument resulted in the discharge of a firearm inside a vehicle on I-94.

On March 23, 2026, ISP Special Agents were notified of a shooting on I-94 after Stevenson became engaged in a verbal argument with one of the passengers in the vehicle she was traveling in. During the argument, Stevenson grabbed a firearm and discharged it inside of the vehicle. No occupants were injured.

On March 24, 2026, Special Agents presented the case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and Stevenson was charged with one count of Aggravated Discharge of a firearm (Class 1 Felony), one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony). Stevenson was arrested and transported to the Cook County Department of Corrections pending a detention hearing. No further information is available.
