ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO MAN FOR LEAVING THE SCENE OF FATAL CRASH ON I-94

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 36-year-old Jeremy J. Arnold from Chicago, IL for one count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Crash (Class 1 Felony) stemming from a deadly crash on I-94.

On April 19, 2025, at approximately 12:27 a.m., ISP responded to a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 94 southbound near 170th Street in South Holland. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a Chevrolet Traverse, which resulted in the death of 30-year-old Rickia Blair from Chicago, IL. Five other occupants from the Traverse were injured. The driver of the Monte Carlo fled the scene on foot.

After a thorough investigation, ISP special agents identified Arnold as the driver of the Monte Carlo. On May 7, 2025, ISP special agents took Arnold into custody and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the abovementioned charge.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
