ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO MAN FOR 2023 VEHICULAR HIJACKING

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 34-year-old Eric D. Evans from Chicago, IL for one count of Vehicular Hijacking (Class 1 Felony) for forcefully hijacking a vehicle in 2023.

On June 4, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m., ISP officers responded to a reported vehicular hijacking on Interstate 290 near Central Avenue in Chicago. ​ The victim’s vehicle was taken by an occupant within the vehicle after a physical altercation and with the assistance of two other accomplices. After an exhaustive investigation, agents identified one suspect as Evans.

On February 28, 2025, ISP agents met with Evans in the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) while Evans was in custody on unrelated charges. Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charge was filed against Evans. Evans is currently in the custody of CCDOC. There is no further information.

The charge is not evidence against the defendant and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
