ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS BELVIDERE MAN FOR CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT

BELVIDERE – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 arrested 52-year-old Robert E. Kozlowski of Belvidere, IL for one count of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony) and two counts of Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 4 Felony).
On March 20, 2024, ISP was requested by the Belvidere Police Department (BPD) to investigate a report of a criminal sexual assault involving an off-duty BPD officer, Robert. E. Kozlowski. During the investigation Kozlowski was placed on administrative leave from BPD.
On January 9, 2025, after a thorough investigation, Kozlowski was indicted by a Boone County Grand Jury on the above charges. A warrant was issued for Kozlowski’s arrest and he turned himself in on January 10, 2024. No further information is available.
The charges are not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
