ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS ALSIP MAN FOR 2024 MURDER

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 32-year-old Darius Norwood from Alsip, IL for one count of First-Degree Murder (Class M Felony) related to an expressway shooting on Interstate 94 in 2024.

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., ISP officers responded to a crashed vehicle with a deceased gunshot victim on Interstate 94 northbound in the local lanes near 37th Street in Chicago. After an exhaustive investigation, agents identified a suspect.

On February 26, 2025, the Alsip Police Department took Norwood into custody and later transferred custody to ISP agents. Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the above-mentioned charge was filed against Norwood. Norwood is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.
