ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARRESTS CHICAGO MEN FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER IN EXPRESSWAY SHOOTINGS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 36-year-old Lamarkcus R. Ferguson of Country Club Hills, IL and 22-year-old Aldo Ruiz of Wonder Lake, IL for Attempted Murder, stemming from recent expressway shooting investigations.

On July 9, 2025, ISP officers responded to an expressway shooting on Interstate 94 northbound at 47th Street in Chicago. ​ Two victims had been struck by gunfire and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. ​ After a thorough investigation, ISP agents identified Ferguson as a suspect.

On July 21, 2025, the Country Club Hills Police Department took Ferguson into custody during a traffic stop. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved five counts of Attempted Murder (Class X Felony), two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) and five counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony). ​ There is no further information.

On July 12, 2025, ISP officers responded to an expressway shooting on I-90 southbound at East River Road in Chicago. One victim had been struck by gunfire and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. After a thorough investigation, ISP agents identified Ruiz as a suspect.

On July 23, 2025, Ruiz turned himself in to ISP Special Agents. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Attempted Murder (Class X Felony). There is no further information.

The charges are not evidence against the defendants, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
