ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARREST CHICAGO MAN FOR ROAD RAGE RELATED ATTEMPTED MURDER

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 East Violent Crimes Unit arrested 34-year-old Jesus A. Rodriguez of Chicago, IL for Attempted Murder (Class X Felony) and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony), stemming from a road rage related expressway shooting.
On April 23, 2025, at approximately 5:27 p.m., ISP was notified of an expressway shooting that occurred on Interstate 55 at Central Avenue. An occupant in the suspect’s vehicle fired a weapon, striking the victim’s vehicle. The victim was struck by gunfire in the left arm and was transported to a local hospital. ISP officers quickly identified the suspect’s vehicle, and within hours, they took the suspect, Jesus A. Rodriguez, into custody.
On April 25, 2025, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the above charges against Rodriguez. Rodriguez is being held pending his first court appearance.
