ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF VIOLENT CRIME SUPPRESSION DETAIL IN THE ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ METRO EAST AREA

TROY – Illinois State Police (ISP) conducted a violent crime suppression detail on October 6 - 9, 2025, in Bond, Clinton, Madison, and St. Clair counties. ​ The operation focused their efforts on the I-55/I-64/I-70 corridors where officers from throughout the State conducted high profile stops with an emphasis on traffic safety, reducing fatalities, and the apprehension of individuals utilizing the highway systems in the furtherance of criminal activities.

Two notable events and arrests occurred during the detail:

Troopers conducted a traffic stop for an Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC) violation near Pocahontas. ​ The driver was subsequently taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence. ​

Troopers conducted a traffic stop for an IVC violation near New Baden. A probable cause search revealed cannabis, methamphetamine, and a stolen firearm. Two occupants were taken into custody and charges are pending.

ISP officers from around the state, including patrol Troops 3, 7 and 8, assisted ISP Statewide Highway Interdiction Team with this multi-day operation. The Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois and the South-Central Illinois Drug Task Force also provided additional support.

ISP will continue to use all available resources, including air operations, technology, forensic services, investigators, increase patrols, and information sharing to combat violent crime.
