Illinois State Police Announces Results of Multi-Day Enforcement Detail in Central Illinois

METAMORA – The Illinois State Police (ISP) conducted a multi-agency enforcement detail on June 15-20, 2026, in central Illinois focusing its efforts on Peoria, Tazewell and Warren counties. The operation utilized aerial surveillance, intra agency collaboration, and technology to target known high fatality crash areas, high crime areas, organized violent offenders, and criminal groups using interstate systems to facilitate crime. Even with inclement weather hitting the area mid-week, suspending the detail for the day, Officers were still successful in their enforcement efforts.

Notable arrests during the detail include:
On June 17, 2026, Troopers conducted a traffic stop in Peoria and recovered over 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructing Justice, and multiple active arrest warrants.
On June 18, 2026, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an Illinois Vehicle Code violation in Peoria. Officers recovered suspected crack cocaine and a firearm from the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Felon, Unlawful Possession of a Defaced Firearm, Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and other criminal charges.
ISP officers from Troops 4, 5, 6, and 7, ISP Zone 4, ISP Air Operations, ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau, Peoria Metropolitan Enforcement Group, Peoria Police Department, East Peoria Police Department, Peoria County Sheriff’s Department, and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department all assisted the ISP Special Operations Group with the multi-day enforcement detail.
ISP will continue to use all available resources, including air operations, technology, forensic services, investigators, increase patrols, and information sharing to combat violent crime.
