    "body": "<p style=\"text-align: center\">April 28, 2026</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>BRADLEY</strong> &ndash; The Illinois State Police (ISP) is releasing video after the Bradley Police Department requested ISP to conduct an independent investigation of an officer involved shooting.</p><p style=\"text-align: justify\"> On April 8, 2026, at approximately 12:46 p.m., Bradley Police Department officers conducted a well-being check in the 600 block of Jonette Avenue in Bradley, IL for a man making suicidal statements. \u200b On arrival, officers encountered 34-year-old Jose Orozco of Bradley armed with a box cutter. \u200b Officers attempted to talk with Orozco when he started advancing on them. \u200b Orozco disobeyed officers&rsquo; orders to stop and the officers discharged their weapons, striking Orozco. \u200b Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived on scene. \u200b Orozco was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. \u200b </p><p style=\"text-align: justify\"> In accordance with ISP&rsquo;s commitment to integrity and public transparency, the video of the event is being made available to the public and can be found by clicking <a href=\"https://ispvideos.illinois.gov/media/videos/officer-involved-critical-incidents/other-law-enforcement-agency/bradley-ois-video-mp4.html\">HERE</a>. \u200b This video is being released after consultation with the Kankakee County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office. \u200b ISP provided Orozco&rsquo;s family the opportunity to review the video before its release to the public.</p><p>After a thorough investigation, ISP will turn the case over to the Kankakee County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office for review.
