LOUIS </strong>&ndash; Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Special Agents arrested 18-year-old Jason A. McCallum of Florissant, MO for two counts of First-Degree Murder (Class M Felony) following a deadly shooting in Venice, IL.</p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">On May 26, 2026, the Venice Police Department requested ISP&rsquo;s assistance with a homicide investigation in the 1200 Block of Selb Street. Officers located a deceased victim in a vehicle with gunshot wounds, now identified as 38-year-old Travion Sherrod of Madison, IL. \u200b </p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">After a thorough investigation, ISP Special Agents identified McCallum as a suspect. \u200b On May 30, 2026, McCallum was taken into custody following a flight at the Lambert St. Louis Airport with the assistance of the Lambert St. Louis Airport Police and the St. Louis County Police Department. \u200b On June 1, 2026, Madison County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office filed the First-Degree Murder charges for McCallum. He is being held in St. Louis County pending extradition back to Illinois. </p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">The investigation is ongoing. ISP Zone 6 is asking any witnesses or persons with direct knowledge of the shooting to contact ISP at <a href=\"mailto:ISP.CRIMETIPS@illinois.gov\">ISP.CRIMETIPS@illinois.gov</a>; tips can remain anonymous.
