    "body": "<p style=\"text-align: center\">FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE</p><p style=\"text-align: center\">November 3, 2026</p><p><strong>CHICAGO</strong> &ndash; Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 55-year-old Avery Singleton of Chicago, IL after an expressway shooting on I-94. </p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">On September 30, 2026, around 10:26 p.m., ISP responded to a report of an expressway shooting on I-94 northbound near Garfield Boulevard. The incident involved a suspect in a dark colored vehicle who fired a weapon at a Truck Tractor Car Hauler after a road rage incident. No injuries were reported. After an extensive investigation, ISP Special Agents identified Singleton as the suspect. </p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">On November 1, 2026, ISP agents executed a search warrant on Singleton&rsquo;s apartment and he was taken into custody. ISP presented the case to the Cook County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office and Singleton was charged with Attempted Murder (Class X Felony), Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony), and three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony). Singleton remains in custody pending his first court appearance.
