    "body": "<p style=\"text-align: center\">APRIL 24, 2026</p><p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>WASHINGTON PARK </strong>&ndash; Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Major Crimes Unit Special Agents arrested 40-year-old Charles E. Little Jr. of Belleville, IL for Attempted First Degree Murder (Class X Felony), Aggravated Battery (Class X Felony), and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender (Class X Felony).</p><p style=\"text-align: justify\">On April 20, 2026, the Washington Park Police Department requested ISP&rsquo;s assistance with a shooting investigation which occurred in the area of 47<sup>th</sup> Street and Caseyville Avenue. Officers responded to the area for the report of a subject down and located a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.</p><p>After a swift and thorough investigation, Zone 6 Major Crimes and PSEG Special Agents identified Little as the suspect and took him into custody. On April 24, 2026, the case was presented to St. Clair County State&rsquo;s Attorney James Gomric, and the above-mentioned charges were filed against Little. Little is being held at the St. Clair County Jail pending his first court appearance.
